Academic Standing

Congratulations on the completition of your Fall semester. The Winter semester starts on January 7. Timetables are now posted but be sure to check it regularly for changes.

Grades will be released online on Thursday December 20. Any student who has received a D or F in any core course is required to set up an appointment with their academic advisor. If your cumulative GPA is below 2.4 you must also set up an appointment with your advisor. Any student with an "I" grade (incomplete) must contact the instructor for that course to determine how to complete their course. In addition, students with an I grade must also meet with their academic advisor as it will affect their field placement status.

Academic advising has changed such that Trevor Cottrell is no longer an academic advisor. First year students will be required to contact Angela Kochan at x5252 (angela.kochan@sheridanc.on.ca). Second, third and fourth year students must contact Elsa Orecchio at x2395 (elsa.orecchio@sheridanc.on.ca).

Students who wish to appeal a grade decision must first make the appeal to the course instructor. If the appeal is not resolved at that level, they can then submit an appeal to the coordinator, associate dean, and then the dean, in that order.

Study Room Access

As most of you are familiar, we have reserved J324 and BB17 for after hours practice rooms. I have received a note from the security office that they are being pressured to provide access to other rooms. I have also learned that some students are asking for exclusive use of some of the rooms. The study rooms that have been provided are for communal use. No student can exclusively reserve these areas. If more classrooms are required for studying a written request must be submitted to me detailing what the dates, times and locations of the rooms are and I will submit a request.

Below are the electives available for next term. You should be able to sign up for your electives online some time in the next week. If you need help with this see the Student Advisement Centre. There is a possibility for some students to take electives on Tuesdays from 1-4pm, however there are very few spots available and it is need-based.

Voleyball Coverage Needed

My name is Bill MacKay. I am part of this year’s host committee for Girls’ AAAA OFSAA Volleyball Championships. The event will be taking place in Scarborough at Centennial College on March 4-5th.

We are looking for a certification candidate who needs some field hours to help with coverage for this event.

As a certified AT and graduate of Sheridan, I know the importance of having responsible, knowledgeable people available to take care of our athletes.

It could be either one person, or more than one sharing it. The days would run from about 8:30am – 8:30pm each of the two days.

There is no payment, however food would be provided for them during the day.

Please forward this email along if you are not the person for such a request.

Thanks,

Bill MacKay
