Oakville Half Marathon

Hi guys,

We are getting close to the Oakville 1/2 marathon on Sept 6th. Unfortunately we are desperately looking for people as I've just a couple cancel.

This position will be responsible for assisting the Athletic Manager and school administration in the delivery and leading of programs and maintenance of various athletic facilities in Bill Crothers Secondary School.

Areas of Responsibility:

Instructional Leadership

* Organizes and administers the overall strength and conditioning
program at Bill Crothers Secondary School.
* Co-ordinates and delivers athlete preparation, injury prevention
and related services to students and staff of B.C.S.S.
* Collaborates with Health and Physical Education (H.P.E.)
department, to deliver and evaluate fitness assessments and
athletic training sessions to students within the H.P.E. curriculum.
* Understanding of LTAD and developmental age appropriate training
required;
* Integrate Long Term Athlete Development (CS4L) philosophies
throughout all aspects of the Strength and Conditioning program.
* Manages the maintenance and service of fitness and training
facilities.
* Develops appropriate rules and regulations governing the school
fitness centre.
* Assists in the development, research and purchase of physical
fitness equipment and training aids.
* Facilitates maximum usage and accessibility of all facilities
throughout the school day.
* Assists in coverage at athletic events.
* ATC, CATA, or experience as a therapist or in the area of injury
and prevention an asset.
* Previous high performance sport experience an asset.
* Yoga and Pilates experience or certification an asset.
* Track (sprints) and Olympic weightlifting experience or
certification an asset.
* National Coaching Certification an asset.
* Experience creating and delivering presentations on related matter
to large groups an asset.

Professional Development

* Provides leadership and instruction to athletic coaches, physical
education teachers and students and staff in the use of fitness
equipment and training of athletes.
* Conducts in service meetings with physical education teachers and
athletic coaches
* Motivates and encourages athletes and students to participate in
off-season conditioning program and physical fitness program as
part of the Bill Crothers S.S. wellness program.
* Participates in continuous study and attends relevant conferences
and workshops to maintain and enhance professional competence.

School and Community Relations

* Oversees the promotion of the schools physical fitness and
athletic strength and conditioning programs.
* Promotes cooperation among and between members of the coaching
staff, faculty, support personnel and administrators for the
general advancement of the physical fitness and athletic
conditioning program
* Organizes the recruitment, mentoring and supervision of Strength &
Conditioning internship students.
* Acts as the district expert in physical fitness and athletic
conditioning.
* Creates working relationships with sport medicine doctors,
therapists, mental performance consultants, and nutritionists in
order to build a network that can be utilized on demand for
various student needs.

*Qualifications:*

* A university or college degree in sport management or kinesiology
or Canadian Strength Conditioning Specialist or a related
discipline is required.
* A minimum of one year’s related experience is required.
* Effective communication, organizational, interpersonal and
computer skills are required.
* Ability to motivate and encourage others and deal effectively with
a variety of individuals and groups.

*Salary Range: $41,625 - $46,853 (as of September 1, 2010)*

September Start-Up

Welcome back, everyone!

Please note that your timetables are now available but you need to confirm your lab times on the Athletic Therapy Virtual Community in your SLATE. We will have the lists and lab times posted by Friday, August 27.

The Athletic Therapy Society will be giving details regarding a social get-together for the first week of classes. Stay tuned to the blog and Virtual Community for details.

Advanced Standing applications for core courses can be placed in Loriann's mailbox in the Student Lounge in the H-building and applications for breadth courses are to be given to Kirsten Madsen (kirsten.madsen2@sheridanc.on.ca).

Coverage Needed

Oakville Titans Football - Bantam/Atom/Peewee Fall Program

The Oakville Titans are looking for therapist(s) to cover their fall program. It begins on Aug 28 and runs until November 6. The practice schedule is as follows (game coverage is not required):

Saturdays, 10-12pm (until Sep 11)
Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm
Thursdays, 6:30-8:30pm

Certified Athletic Therapist Required

Are there any AT's wanting to pick up some extra hours? The Rosedale Wellness Centre is looking for an AT to work Fridays and possibly Saturdays. Also he or she will be filling in for the rehab team when on vacation or gaining CEUs. Some experience is preferred but a new Certified Athletic Therapist would be considered. Also the candidate must have good Manual Skills.

Also the candidate will be covering these dates:

September 22rd to September 28th
October 28th to November 2nd
December 2nd to 7th
January 6th to 11th, 2011
February 10th to 15th, 2011
March 24th to March 29th, 2011

AT Coverage Needed

Athletic Edge Sports Medicine is looking for CAT(C) or students (with proof of liability insurance) to cover a softball tournament. The tournament is at the Brampton Powerade Center and the dates and hours are as follows:

Saturday September 4th - 10:30am to 5:30pm

Sunday September 5th - 10:30am to 5:30pm

The hourly salary is $25/hour.
