INTRODUCING THE EVENT
• Oxfam Trailwalker is one of the world's greatest fundraising team endurance events.
• It has taken place annually for over ten years in locations around the world, including Sydney & Melbourne, Australia; New Zealand; Hong Kong; Japan; Belgium and England
• This year’s event in Canada will be Friday, July 22nd – Sunday, July 24th, 2011 along the Ganaraska Hiking Trail between Barrie and Orillia.
• The challenge is to hike 100km in 48 hours as a team of 4.
• Each team must start together, finish together and check in at all the checkpoints along the route.
• Teams commit to raising the minimum of $2,500 in pledges.
• In 2009 there were 50 teams that participated; in 2010 there were over 100 teams; and in 2011 even more teams are expected.
• The event will involve over 150 volunteers throughout the event weekend.
• This one-of-a-kind event offers an incredibly satisfying personal achievement, a unique experience to share with friends, family and colleagues and an unparalleled opportunity to do something bold for others.
