Second Year Placement for September 2009
NEDA Trainer’s Roles and Responsibilities
Canada Basketball is seeking a team trainer to work with our 2 National Elite Development Academy teams. Our athletes have been identified as the country's top high school aged athletes and have been brought together to train for the year with National Team coaches. The NEDA season runs from September to April at McMaster University.
The key roles and responsibilities associated with this position are:
Attend practices and prepare athletes for competition
Example Practice times are:
Mon/Wed/Thurs - 2-4:30pm
Tues - 6:30-8:30pm
Fri - 1:15-4:30
Arrive in a timely fashion so athletes are prepared 10-15 minutes before practice begins. Observe practice and be prepared with Emergency Action Plan in case of injury. Prepare post-practice ice. *Note – practice times for 2009-10 will be approximately as above, but are yet to be determined. Applicants must be flexible to changing schedule.
Attend Competitions
Travel with the team when necessary (approximately one weekend per month). Per Diem and accommodation covered when applicable.
Organize and stock medical kit
Notify NEDA Administrative Coordinator when supplies are low for reordering. In conjunction with NEDA Administrative Coordinator, coordinate doctor and physiotherapy services for athletes and book initial appointments for athletes. Athletes are responsible for managing their follow-up appointments. Contact NEDA Administrative Coordinator for all insurance inquiries.
Follow up for National Team
Make reports and meet with National Team physiotherapists for athletes selected to Junior National Teams at the conclusion of the season.
The NEDA team trainer will receive compensation from Canada Basketball.
