Advanced Standing Applications

If you are applying for Advanced Standing (AS) for a breadth course, Yael Katz is the Breadth Coordinator and the person you need to send your application to. She has asked the following: "To avoid lost documents, complete applications can be dropped off at the SCLS office at Davis (B294) with Kelly Quinn, or at Trafalgar (C227) with Adele Dodge. They will forward the applications to me (Yael Katz) for processing." Yael has confirmed that a photocopy of your offical transcript will be sufficient.

A common question regarding AS for breadth electives is whether or not the course you are using has to be similar to a course being offered here at Sheridan. The answer is no, but if you are applying for AS in the core curriculum then yes, it must demonstrate at least 80% of the same content.

If you are applying for AS in a core course, please complete your application and drop it in Loriann Hynes' mailbox in the student lounge, H137.

REMEMBER, you are to complete ONE application form, PER COURSE that you are applying for. The additional boxes for course information are for if you are using more than one of your previously completed, univeristy equivalent courses to meet the objectives of the course you are applying for Advanced Standing in. As well, you should only apply for courses that are in the upcoming semester. For example, if a course takes place during the Winter semester, please do not apply for AS in this course with your application for a Fall course. Finally, remember that you must provide a full course syllabus for each of the courses you have taken when submitting your application.
