Dear Athletic Therapy Students, Faculty, Staff, Administration and Friends,
One week post party and I still have an after-glow of warm feelings and appreciation. It was a wonderful gala affair, with speeches, music, dancing and dare I say drinking. The aura of green in the room added to the feelings of spring, approaching the school year end and my sense of well-being.
Good luck to all of the students who are writing and taking practical exams this week and next. Extra good luck to the fourth year students, who will have comprehensives next Friday and the certification exam, potentially in June or December. I am confident that you are ready and will be successful.
The guitar playing and singing were very entertaining. Great music guys and Kirsty, the singing was exceptional. Thank you for preparing this at your busiest time of year.
I felt very honoured to have Maureen Callahan (VP Academic), Helen Allen (Dean) and Catherine Slaney (Associate Dean) all present for the gala. It may be a record to have such representation at our yearly banquet. By the way ladies, that was my twin sister who poised in the thong, in the nurse’s outfit and on the dance floor.
It is not easy to prepare speeches and deliver them, especially with the poor lighting. Elsa, Vern and Joe were exceptional and they made it so comical that their delivery seemed effortless. I was very touched by your messages.
I got to reading the brochure on Sunday and was surprised and delighted to see notes from my classmate Steve Dzubinski, the OATA president Drew Laskoski, and Richard Demont, president of the CATA and my dear friends Barry Bartlett, Elsa Orecchio, and Trevor Cottrell. I would like to give a special thanks to Fred Dunbar (Dunbar Medical), Rick Schaly (Trainers Choice), Annette McClelland (ABL) and the Alumni Office for their contributions.
It takes a lot of work putting power point presentations together, decorating, getting the brochure done, collecting pictures, putting an album together, having material printed, etc. Thank you to the organizing committee, for all your efforts.
It seems a crime to be rewarded for something that you loved to do and even get paid for it. Thank all of you for the memories. I look forward to seeing you at conventions and meetings and maybe even teaching you again, as grads in the future.
Sincerely,
Anne Hartley
