CERTIFIED ATHLETIC THERAPIST CONTRACT POSITION
August 1st, 2008 – Dec 1, 2009



The David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre at McMaster University is seeking a motivated, self directed Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT) for the upcoming Varsity season. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting with field coverage for the Varsity Football and will be given the opportunity to experience a continuum of care for varsity athletes ranging from pre-participation physicals to on-field and clinical assessments. Other duties will include: assisting with field coverage of other varsity games and events, assisting with supervision and evaluation of student field therapists, assisting with keeping accurate inventory of supplies and placing orders and other duties as assigned.



The position offers the following:



· Patient Care in a large multi-disciplinary setting including: orthopaedic surgeons, orthopedic fellows, primary care, sport medicine fellows, kinesiologists, athletic therapists, strength and conditioning specialist, pedorthic and bracing services

· Clinical and field mentorship from Physiotherapists; 1 RCAMT and 3 SPC Certificate certified

· Clinical and field mentorship from Sport Medicine Physicians

· Training in custom and off-the-shelf bracing

· Training in Hydrotherapy Pool Rehabilitation

· Program based at McMaster University



Pre-requisites:



1) Must be Nationally Certified as a CAT C

2) Sport First Responder preferred
