I am writing on behalf of Oxfam Canada and was given your contact information from Amanda Halls, Clinic Director with Sheridan Athletic Therapy Centre. We are organizing Oxfam Trailwalker Canada (www.oxfamtrailwalker.ca) and I was hoping you could send out an e-blast to the Ontario Athletic Therapists Association to help us recruit volunteer Athletic Therapists for our event.



Oxfam Trailwalker is the world’s greatest team challenge where teams of four hike 100km in 48 hours. This event happens worldwide (Japan, Hong Kong, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Ireland) and we are launching the North American debut. The event takes place from Friday July 24 to Sunday July 26, 2009, along the Ganaraska Hiking Trail (between Barrie and Wasaga).



We have put together an outstanding team that will be overseeing various disciplines throughout the weekend. Many of our checkpoints along the route will have a sports clinic for participants and we will have Athletic Therapists, Sport Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists and first aid. Our Clinic Director is Dr. Scott D. Howitt, Director Sports Performance Centres Ltd. He also teaches at the chiropractic college. Dr. Howitt will be overseeing all clinic volunteers and will report to our Medical Director Mel Giblett. I’ve also cc’d Dan DiRuscio who is our logistics coordinator on this event.
