The Ontario Athletic Therapist Association and National Athletic Therapy Month
What is National Athletic Therapy Month?
In 2006, the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association (CATA) launched an annual national initiative called “National Athletic Therapy Month (NATM).” Awareness Month is designated as the month of June each year to coincide with the summer sports and activities, as well as with the CATA Annual Conference. This month presents an opportunity for Athletic Therapists to promote the Athletic Therapy movement.
The theme of NATM is “Out There.” Athletic Therapists and organizations will host events and other activities throughout the country to build awareness that Athletic Therapy is really out there everywhere that you look and that progress is being made towards educating normal, everyday active individuals that Athletic Therapy would be beneficial to their overall health.
Why is the Ontario Athletic Therapist Association participating in Awareness Day?
The Ontario Athletic Therapist Association is the largest body of certified members of the CATA. We feel that it is our duty to help market the profession of athletic therapy to the public and to our members. We want every person to recognize the credentials of an Athletic Therapist!
How can OATA members get involved?
This year, OATA members are being given a challenge! The OATA will be sending out over 300 press releases about Athletic Therapy across Canada to different avenues of media – newspapers, magazines, TV and the like. These press releases will feature Athletic Therapists from Ontario. We want you to find these releases, and send them to secretary@athletictherapist.on.ca by email, fax (905)584-6787, or by mail by July 15th to be entered in a random draw for a $500 gift certificate to Medelco! There is a second way to enter this random draw…If you are able to send us a copy of media release about you, you will get 3 entries into our draw!
